Glossary
The terms and identifiers that appear across every section of this site. Most of them are specific to the Argentine capital market, and several are Spanish words that stay in Spanish because they are the literal names of API fields.
Account identifiers
The Allaria account number and the wallet CVU are two different things.
The account number is spelled differently in different endpoint families, because each one follows its own backend's convention — but it is always the same number.
| What you send | Where | What it is |
|---|---|---|
comitente | Aperturas request and response bodies | The Allaria account number |
account-id | Trading path parameters | The same number |
account_number | Trading, Savings Plans and Position response bodies | The same number |
accountNumber | Some MEP endpoints | The same number |
accountId | Some Trading endpoints | The same number |
cvu | Allaria+ path parameters | Not the same. The CVU of an Allaria+ wallet account |
external_id | Aperturas | Your own identifier, not Allaria's. You choose it when opening the account and use it to poll the status |
onboarding_id | Onboarding | Identifies an onboarding in progress, not an account. It stops being useful once the account exists |
client_id | Link accounts | Not an account. The id Allaria assigns to your integration; Allaria links your accounts to it so your credentials can read them; check progress with the link status endpoint. Request yours from Allaria |
So a comitente you got back from Account Opening is what you put in {account-id} when you ask for that account's orders, and in account_number when you read a position.
Terms
comitente — the account number a client holds at Allaria; read it as "the Allaria account number". The docs keep the word because it is the literal name of the API field and has no good English equivalent in this context.
CUIT / CUIL — the Argentine tax identification number. A CUIT belongs to a company, a CUIL to a natural person. Both are 11 digits.
CVU — Clave Virtual Uniforme. The identifier of a virtual account in the Argentine payments system, the equivalent of a CBU for a wallet rather than a bank. Allaria+ accounts have one; brokerage accounts do not.
CBU — Clave Bancaria Uniforme. The identifier of a bank account in Argentina.
CXU — the generic name for either a CBU or a CVU. Fields called cxu return whichever of the two identifies the account.
MEP — Mercado Electrónico de Pagos. In practice, "dólar MEP" is the legal way to buy or sell US dollars in Argentina through the securities market. It is a settlement route, not a currency.
The trade has two legs, and the MEP Operations endpoints run both:
- you buy a bond in pesos;
- you sell the same bond in dollars.
PPT — precio de punta a punta, the bid/ask prices used to price a MEP operation.
SENEBI — Segmento de Negociación Bilateral, BYMA's bilateral trading segment. Used for MEP operations outside the open market book.
PRI — Perfil de Riesgo del Inversor, the investor risk profile: Riesgo Bajo, Riesgo Medio or Riesgo Alto. It determines which instruments a client is allowed to operate.
PSP — Proveedor de Servicios de Pago, a payment service provider registered with the BCRA. If your company is one, see Services for PSPs.
Obliged entity (sujeto obligado) — a company registered before the UIF that is legally responsible for the KYC/AML of its customers. Whether your company is one decides whether you use Onboarding or Account Opening.
UIF — Unidad de Información Financiera, Argentina's financial intelligence unit and AML regulator.
BCRA — Banco Central de la República Argentina, the central bank.
CNV — Comisión Nacional de Valores, the securities regulator.
ALyC — Agente de Liquidación y Compensación, a licensed broker-dealer. Allaria is one; that is what the Allaria tab's endpoints are for.
BYMA — Bolsas y Mercados Argentinos, the Argentine stock exchange.
CEDEAR — Certificado de Depósito Argentino, a certificate representing a foreign share, tradable in pesos on BYMA.
FCI — Fondo Común de Inversión, a mutual fund. The Mutual Funds endpoints operate these.
Unit holder (cuotapartista) — an investor registered in mutual funds (FCI). A unit holder account is separate from a brokerage account and is identified by the company's CUIT; see Unit holder accounts.
Tenencia — holdings. Appears as tenencia in some PSP endpoint paths.
Systems you will see named
These are Allaria's internal systems. You never call them directly — everything goes through the base URL in Overview — but their names surface in paths and error messages, so it helps to know what they are.
| Name | What it is | Where you see it |
|---|---|---|
| Esco | The core brokerage back office. It holds the accounts and positions of record | get-esco-position, esco in Aperturas responses, 500 errors |
| Caja de Valores | Argentina's central securities depository. Account opening registers the holder there | Aperturas catalogues (paises-cv, localidades-cv) |
| Renaper | Registro Nacional de las Personas, the national identity registry. Validates a DNI when opening an account | renaper in Aperturas responses |
| Repet | The registry of persons barred from operating. Screened when opening an account | repet in Aperturas responses |
| OMS | The order management system that routes orders to the market | get-oms-position |
| Nasdaq | The matching engine behind some account setup steps | ejecutados / pendientes in Aperturas status |
Two internal service names also appear inside client-facing paths, for infrastructure reasons. They carry no meaning for you and you can treat them as opaque path segments:
/v1/bymas/allaria/...— the Movements, Position and account-linking endpoints./v1/broker/...and/v1/operations/...— the Trading endpoints.
A note on Spanish in paths and values
Some endpoint paths and enum values are in Spanish, because they are the real names the backend expects and changing them in the docs would make the examples wrong:
/v1/aperturas/cuentas-por-cuit,/v1/psp/fondos/{fondo}/cotizacion,/v1/aperturas/cuentas/pri- values such as
Riesgo Medio,No Residente,Si, directamente,Menos de 1.300.000
Send them exactly as written, accents included.
